Stockholm as the capital of Sweden, is both a national center as the leading city of culture in Scandinavia. The culture is characterized by strong art institutions, cultural heritage and a well-developed infrastructure with libraries and cultural schools. It also has a free dynamic culture in all arts areas as well as a growing number of festivals.
The creative industries have become increasingly important in the local and regional growth planning as a catalyst for attracting tourists and provide significant social impacts of urban renewal. The Ericsson’s factory, an old landmark at Telefonplan in Stockholm, is now growing to a new centre for creative industries. The cultural heritage of the heavy industries attracts and supports young innovators and entrepreneurs. Culture Creators and artists get new job opportunities in television, design and other private cultural markets.
Today at least 147 500 or 12,9 % of the total workers in Sweden are employed in the creative industries.
