Programme of the CREATIVE METROPOLES event in Warsaw

From 21st October CREATIVE METROPLES project representatives together with policy makers and creative business people from their cities will meet in Warsaw to discuss the research findings and analyze different case studies from 11 cities involved in the project.

On 21st October project Management Team meeting will be held.

Thursday, October 22nd will be devoted to presentation of the research findings “Policies for the creative industries: a comparative analysis of 11 cities” and project themes: Architecture of the public support for CI sector and Finance for the Creative Industries.

Along with discussions and keynote speeches, following case studies will be presented.

Theme 1 – Architecture of the public support for CI sector

BIRMINGHAM: „Public strategies – help of hindrance? Birmingham – from heavy metal to creative hub“, presented by Jill Robinson/Birmingham

BERLIN: „Support for Berlin’s creative industries: Overview of public structures and the private example MotorFM“, presented by Katrin Tobies, Markus Kühn/Berlin

AMSTERDAM: „Creating support systems for the creative industries in Amsterdam“, presented by Robert Marijnissen, Mike Shulmeister/Amsterdam

Theme 4 – Finance for the Creative Industries

STOCKHOLM: “Institutional Financing Model“: Bernt Ericson/Stockholm

HELSINKI: “Financial Schemes for developing the creative regions in the city“: Marianna Kajantie/Helsinki

BIRMINGHAM: „Finance for developing the focussed CI sector“; Kath Morgan/Birmingham

RIGA: „Take Off“: Ervin Labanovskis/Riga

On Friday, October 23rd participants will discuss the project theme Demand for Creative Industries and analyze following case studies.

HELSINKI: “Design as a criteria for public procurements”: Taina Seitsara/Lahti (Helsinki Region)

Theme: Enhancing the demand via education and improving accessibility.

OSLO: “The cultural rucksack”: Knut Sether/Oslo:

On Saturday, October 24th participants of the events will move out of the conference rooms and into the streets to participate at the Creative City Games.
